The Province of Teramo borders on The Marches Region (to the north), the Province of Pescara and L'Aquila (south) and Lazio (west);
it is characterized by the eastern side of the Apennines and by valleys gently sloping towards the Adriatic coastline.
Its territory counts 47 municipalities; in addition to the chief town Teramo
The most densely-populated places are Roseto degli Abruzzi and Giulianova.
The Piceni are one of the ancient populations that inhabited this area, which then was included in the territory of Le Marche.
The Province of Teramo was established in 1806 by the Kingdom of Naples, separating it from the actual province of L'Aquila.
The territory of Teramo is dominated by two major mountains: the Laga massif, with its woods, gorges and waterfalls, and the Gran Sasso d'Italia, representing
the western border of the province and culminating with the Corno Grande (9,554 ft).
Europe's southernmost glacier, the Calderone, also calls this area home.
On the coastline are the "seven sisters," the Province's seven seaside resorts, with their sandy beaches and Mediterranean climate that fosters the growth of palms,
pine trees and oleanders.
However, the Province is mostly hilly. One of the several rivers flowing along the valleys is the Vomano, that eventuall forms Lake Campotosto.
Ascoli Piceno is a town in central Italy.
Piazza del Popolo, an elegant Renaissance square in the center, has travertine paving .
The 13th-century Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo, a palace built over Roman ruins.
The Civic Picture Gallery, decorated with Murano glass chandeliers, displays paintings by Titian and Carlo Crivelli.

The Province of L'Aquila is in the heart of Abruzzo, surrounded by the Provinces of Teramo (north), Pescara and Chieti (east), Molise (southeast) and Lazio (west).
The Province of L'Aquila, the largest of the four provinces of Abruzzo, is the only one with no access to the sea. Due to its dimensions, it presents a great variety
of customs and traditions, history and dialects, but an underlying thread runs ever through them.
Culturally rich and diverse with excellent boutique shopping and dining.
